Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jake Holden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricardo Arona (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holden comes into the arena with Devils Never Cry - Devil May Cry OST blaring out of the sound system. Ricardo Arona has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricardo Arona!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Emerson Jorge.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Holden closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Arona sneaks back into half guard.
Holden knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Arona on the ground.
Holden wants to control but Arona is keeping him busy.
Arona is looking to improve his position.
Holden seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Arona is refusing to be controlled, as Holden sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Jake Holden has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Holden is looking to clinch but Arona is avoiding it.

enabling Holden to counter with a crisp jab.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Holden drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Arona is trying to improve his position.

Arona manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Arona is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Arona drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Arona jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Arona has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Holden can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Arona drops back looking for a leg! Holden is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Holden manages to kick Arona off! Arona jumps back into Holden's guard.

Holden wants to hit a switch here but Arona passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Holden there!

Arona working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Arona with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Holden tries to control Arona's body but Arona pushes him off. Holden squirms to his side and now Arona has his back!

Ricardo Arona showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Holden swinging wildly here.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Holden doesn't manage to clinch there - Arona circles away.
Holden tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Arona paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Holden feints and as Arona raises his hands in defense, Holden changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Holden wants to control from the top but Arona keeps moving.
Holden wants to pass the guard but Arona is keeping the position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Holden is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Arona is aware though and is defending well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Holden is on top in guard.

Arona is looking to sinch up a triangle. Holden throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Arona's body to avoid the submission. Arona has instead reached around Holden's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Arona arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Ricardo Arona!
