Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vin Seppala!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Arska Varsineekeri!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seppala tries to clinch there but Varsineekeri circles away.

Seppala changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Varsineekeri looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Varsineekeri is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Varsineekeri regains half guard.
Varsineekeri tries to get to full guard but Seppala has control of the leg.
Varsineekeri gets back to full guard.

Varsineekeri looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Seppala has picked Varsineekeri up and slammed him! Varsineekeri can't keep hold of the triangle and Seppala manages to pass to side control!
Seppala is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Varsineekeri is trying to improve his position.
Varsineekeri looks to move to half guard but instead Seppala has passed into mount! Damn!

Seppala has hold of Varsineekeri's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Varsineekeri manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Varsineekeri tries to reverse the position but Seppala maintains control.
Varsineekeri is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Seppala takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Seppala can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Varsineekeri is looking to escape.
Varsineekeri is desperately trying to improve his position but Seppala has a good base and remains in mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Varsineekeri should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Seppala moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Varsineekeri.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Varsineekeri tries to buck Seppala off but Seppala is having none of it.
Varsineekeri sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Varsineekeri moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Varsineekeri bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Seppala's guard.

Varsineekeri drops back looking for a leg! Seppala is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Seppala manages to kick Varsineekeri off! Varsineekeri jumps back into Seppala's guard.

Varsineekeri postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Seppala is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Varsineekeri, into his guard.
Seppala wants to control from the top but Varsineekeri keeps moving.

Varsineekeri is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Seppala content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Seppala wants to stand but Varsineekeri is controlling his arm.

Varsineekeri is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Seppala pulls his head out easily.
Seppala wants to stand but Varsineekeri has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vin Seppala will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Seppala doesn't manage to clinch there - Varsineekeri circles away.
Seppala throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Seppala darts in and clinches Varsineekeri up against the cage.
Varsineekeri on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Seppala goes for a takedown attempt but Varsineekeri pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Seppala gets caught flat footed, as Varsineekeri shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Varsineekeri tries to free his leg and advance position but Seppala is retaining full guard.
Seppala wants to sweep but no luck.
Varsineekeri is breathing heavily.

Varsineekeri postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Seppala is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Varsineekeri, into his guard.

Varsineekeri has his foot on Seppala's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Seppala works his way back into a safe position though.

Varsineekeri throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Seppala escapes and throws Varsineekeri's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Varsineekeri manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Varsineekeri uses his free foot to push down on Seppala's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Seppala.

Varsineekeri is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Seppala has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Seppala!
Seppala would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Seppala will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Seppala is sitting in close to Varsineekeri's body. Varsineekeri has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Seppala is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Seppala is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Varsineekeri.
