PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Fedor Mclovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cameron Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mclovin comes to the cage accompanied by Sandstorm by Darude. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fedor Mclovin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cameron Williams!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mclovin circles away quickly and effectively.
Mclovin lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Mclovin looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Mclovin closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Williams slips a jab and a cross from Mclovin.
Williams swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Mclovin counters with a right hand to the body.
Mclovin lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.


It looks like Cameron Williams has been cut.
Williams just misses with a punch to the body.
Cameron Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mclovin defending well as Williams loads up on a big left hand.
Williams throws a series of strikes that have Mclovin backpedaling.
Mclovin throws a hook to the side of Williams's head but Williams sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Mclovin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Williams.

Mclovin shoots in looking for a takedown but Williams manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mclovin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A bone on bone clash there as Williams blocks the leg kick.
Williams comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Williams misses with a double jab
and Mclovin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mclovin looks to land a combination but Williams avoids it well.
Mclovin throws a nice looking combination but Williams bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Williams thows a body shot but no joy.
Mclovin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
The fighters circling - Mclovin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Cameron Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Mclovin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mclovin wants to control from the top but Williams keeps moving.

Mclovin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Mclovin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mclovin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Williams is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mclovin, into his guard.

Mclovin throws a right hand that Williams ducks under and follows up with a left that Williams also avoids with ease.
Mclovin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Williams thows a left - swing and a miss!
Mclovin ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

so Mclovin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Mclovin postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Williams is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Mclovin, into his guard.
Mclovin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Williams engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Mclovin has his hands on Williams's head, controlling the position.

Mclovin keeping moving, preventing Williams from controlling successfully.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Williams looking to sit in guard and control but Mclovin gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mclovin would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Williams preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Williams wants to sweep but no luck.

Mclovin stands and steps away. Williams gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Williams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Mclovin counters with a three punch combo that has Williams backing up. Williams nods at Mclovin to acknowledge the strikes.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Mclovin tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Williams misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mclovin counters with a slapping leg kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mclovin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Williams was well out of range. Poor timing from Mclovin.

Williams swats away the attempt to clinch by Mclovin.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mclovin lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Williams fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Williams misses the body punch

and Mclovin counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Mclovin shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Williams manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Cameron Williams has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Mclovin.
Fedor Mclovin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
No joy there for Mclovin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Fedor Mclovin.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mclovin, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
