Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Butch Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Owner Task (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes to the cage accompanied by Sunshine of Your Love. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Butch Williams!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Owner Task!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Task throws a hook but Williams avoids it easily.
Williams tries to clinch but Task is having none of it.
Williams walks into a stiff left hand from Task.
Williams closes this distance looking for a takedown but Task circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Williams.
Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Task swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Butch Williams. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Williams shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Task manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Williams in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Task avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Williams thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Williams stops Task from standing up.
Williams advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Williams looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Task with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Task is defending against the submission attempts here by Williams.
Task really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Task pushes Williams off looking to stand but Williams dives back in and keeps control.

Williams is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Task sees it coming and defends easily.
Williams thows a huge punch but Task dodges it nicely.
Task is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Williams sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Task defending well though.
Task wants to get back to his feet.
Williams throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Williams is trying to work for a kimura but Task is defending well.
Williams missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Williams has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Williams thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Task's head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Task can do anything to dispel that myth.
Task is looking to escape.
Williams passes to side control.
Williams working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Task wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Williams lands an elbow.
An elbow from Williams crashes against the mat.

Williams lands a decent elbow from side control.

Williams has hold of Task's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Task tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Williams cranks the arm and Task screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Task, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:24 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Butch Williams!
