Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bobby Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper swats away the attempt to clinch by Du Plessis.
Du Plessis tries to clinch but Cooper moves out of range.
Du Plessis shoots for a double leg takedown but Cooper sprawls well. He's pushed Du Plessis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Deon Du Plessis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Du Plessis moves in looking to clinch but Cooper pushes him off.

Cooper feints and as Du Plessis raises his hands in defense, Cooper changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Du Plessis tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Du Plessis stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Du Plessis moves in looking to clinch but Cooper pushes him off.

Du Plessis parries the strikes from Cooper easily there. Cooper is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Du Plessis to escape.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Cooper postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Du Plessis is not content to let Cooper control the position.
Cooper has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Cooper dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cooper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Du Plessis as he avoids it easily.

It's a brutal combination of punches from Cooper! Du Plessis is backing up but he can't get away as Cooper lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Du Plessis and ends the fight. Great knockout.
