Elorde throws an overhand right that lands on McNeil's shoulder, as McNeil tries to avoid the shot.
McNeil avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
McNeil shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Elorde has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McNeil is working away from the top position though.

McNeil closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McNeil lands in his opponent's guard.

McNeil lands a nice shot that snaps Elorde's head back.

McNeil throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Elorde stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
McNeil lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Elorde backs up against the cage.
McNeil shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Elorde's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McNeil chips away with some ground and pound.
McNeil stands and steps away. Elorde gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
McNeil catches Elorde with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
McNeil shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Elorde throws a sloppy head kick and McNeil moves out of range easily.

McNeil closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Elorde is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McNeil pulls his head out easily.
McNeil working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Elorde's thigh. Elorde counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Elorde is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Elorde has his foot on McNeil's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McNeil works his way back into a safe position though.
McNeil wants to stand but Elorde is controlling his posture from full guard.
McNeil not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McNeil's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Elorde has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from McNeil finds it's way round the side to connect with Elorde's head.

McNeil shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Elorde as he avoids it easily.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
