Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Paul Marshall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amenophis Malek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paul Marshall! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Amenophis Malek! The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Marshall looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Malek keeps the fight on the outside. Marshall shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Malek as he jumps to the side. Malek tries a head kick but it misses.
Malek misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Malek feints and then cracks Marshall's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Marshall down. Malek tries a head kick but it misses.
Marshall throws the kick towards the body but Malek avoids it. Malek blocks the body kick.
Marshall throws a sloppy head kick and Malek moves out of range easily. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Malek feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Malek loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Marshall tries to land a sweep but no joy. Malek looking to pass the guard. Marshall wants to stand up but Malek is controlling him. Malek has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Malek drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Malek as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Marshall screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Malek! Nice submission victory there!
