Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Nuno Guerreiro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, George Wavy! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Guerreiro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Guerreiro closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Wavy quickly recovers to half guard. Wavy is looking to improve his position.
Wavy is refusing to be controlled, as Guerreiro sits in half guard. Wavy actively working from the bottom here. Wavy is not content to let Guerreiro control the position. Wavy wants to improve his position but Guerreiro is controlling well.
Wavy moves into full guard.
Guerreiro avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Wavy is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Guerreiro trying to control the position from guard on top but Wavy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Guerreiro throwing strikes from guard but Wavy blocks nicely. Wavy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Guerreiro is looking to work some ground and pound but Wavy has wrist control. Guerreiro looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Guerreiro trying to control the position from guard on top but Wavy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Guerreiro sitting in guard, not really doing much. Wavy wants to sweep but no luck.
We're going to have a standup here because Nuno Guerreiro wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Wavy doesn't succeed with the takedown and Guerreiro counters with a shoot takedown. Wavy fights it but they end up in guard. Guerreiro tries to free his leg and advance position but Wavy is retaining full guard. Wavy looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wavy has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Guerreiro doesn't defend quickly enough and Wavy has managed to lock this one up! Can Guerreiro escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Wavy on a fantastic submission victory.
