Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Acevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hairy Rubinthis!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Acevedo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Acevedo is looking to clinch.

Acevedo tries to clinch but Rubinthis moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Acevedo shoots in and bounces Rubinthis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Rubinthis is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rubinthis can't keep his opponent in guard - Acevedo advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Acevedo in particular looking to stall.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rubinthis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Acevedo is working away from the top position though.
Acevedo wants to stand up but Rubinthis has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Acevedo could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rubinthis is trying to get back to full guard.

Acevedo is looking to take a break and control but Rubinthis is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Derek Acevedo wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Acevedo.
Acevedo tries for a takedown but Rubinthis sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Rubinthis avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Acevedo has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rubinthis regains guard immediately.

Rubinthis working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Acevedo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Acevedo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Rubinthis isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Acevedo stacks Rubinthis on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Acevedo!

Acevedo stands up and beckons Rubinthis to his feet.

Acevedo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rubinthis tries to avoid it but Acevedo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rubinthis to the ground. Rubinthis escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Acevedo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rubinthis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derek Acevedo. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rubinthis is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Acevedo gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Rubinthis fails to land the takedown.
Acevedo throws a head kick that misses.

and Rubinthis holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Derek Acevedo will probably get the nod.

Acevedo throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rubinthis's waist but Rubinthis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Acevedo off to one side.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Acevedo throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Acevedo is taking a breather. Rubinthis says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Acevedo wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rubinthis keeps working.

Acevedo frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Acevedo throws some wild stikes that Rubinthis manages to avoid easily.

Hairy Rubinthis has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Acevedo, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
