Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marcelo Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Rolla!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Some wild striking there from Silva.
Silva throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Marcelo Silva seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rolla stuns Silva with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Silva moves in looking to clinch but Rolla pushes him off.

Rolla clinches up against the cage.
Silva lands with a light punch inside.

Silva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Silva gets tackled into the cage by Rolla. Rolla maintains the clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Rolla managing to block the knees to the body from Silva.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Rolla takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

so Rolla counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rolla won't allow Silva to get back to his feet.

Rolla forces his way into half guard.

Rolla is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rolla prevents Silva from improving his position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rolla escapes and gets back to his feet.

Rolla darts in and clinches Silva up against the cage.
Rolla changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Silva fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Silva tries to sprawl but Rolla drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rolla lands a nice short elbow.

Silva makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Rolla drives through and clinches with Silva against the cage.

Rolla has Silva pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Rolla pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Silva tumbling to the mat - Rolla dives into Silva's guard.

Silva pushes Rolla off and scrambles back to his feet.

Silva throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Silva throws a head kick that misses.
Silva throws a right and a left that both miss.
Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Silva is breathing heavily.

Rolla throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silva was covering up waiting for the punch and Rolla finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Rolla trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rolla controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Rolla stops Silva from standing up.
Rolla tries to free his leg and advance position but Silva is retaining full guard.

Silva wants to get back to his feet but Rolla passes into half guard.
Rolla content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Rolla is pressing down on Silva's thigh, looking to free his foot. Silva is holding on for now.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rolla is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Rolla wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Silva rushes Rolla and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Silva lands a left hand.
Silva looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A short body shot lands from Rolla as the two fighters clinch.
Rolla has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Silva is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Silva wants to break the clinch but can't.

Rolla has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Silva is trying to keep an underhook but Rolla manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Rolla stops Silva from getting back to his feet.

Rolla stands up out of the half guard.

Rolla scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Rolla stands up and beckons Silva to join him on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rolla tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it.
Silva darts in trying to clinch
and Rolla counters with a thumping low kick.
Rolla circles away from the clinch attempt

and Rolla counters with a shoot takedown. Silva fights it but they end up in guard.
Rolla stops Silva from standing up.
Rolla slips nicely into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rolla in particular looking to stall.
Rolla works his way into side control.

Rolla is chipping away with strikes.
Silva seems a little lost for a moment, as Rolla dominates the positioning.

Silva is not content to let Rolla control the position.
Rolla advances to full mount.

Rolla has control of Silva's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Silva regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Silva is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Rolla scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Rolla takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Silva is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Rolla swings around for an armbar and he's got it! Wow, that came out of nowhere! What a finish!
