Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Frederik Kraus! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Melvin Manhoef! The judges for this bout are Nard Betker, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Manhoef misses with a double jab
and Kraus counters with a stiff right hand. Manhoef throws a hook but Kraus blocks it. Manhoef throws a combination that misses and Kraus counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Manhoef throws a poor cross that misses
and Kraus connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Kraus slips a straight right by Manhoef. The fight stays on the outside here - Kraus looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Manhoef throws a lazy uppercut
and Kraus makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Manhoef throws a lazy uppercut
and Kraus counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Manhoef is lucky that one didn't land flush. Manhoef throws a lazy uppercut
and Kraus counters with a leg kick. Kraus shoots in looking for a takedown but Manhoef manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kraus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Manhoef misses with a double jab
so Kraus counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Manhoef is rocked! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Manhoef can do anything to dispel that myth. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kraus gets to his feet - Manhoef follows without any prompting. Manhoef stuffs the takedown. Manhoef misses with a hook
and Kraus counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kraus. Kraus throwing strikes from guard but Manhoef blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manhoef is looking to stand back up but Kraus counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Manhoef. Manhoef looks like he's trying to stand up.
Kraus throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Manhoef is refusing to be controlled, as Kraus sits in half guard. Kraus is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Manhoef really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kraus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kraus throwing shots but Manhoef is blocking nicely. Kraus controlling the action here. Manhoef keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kraus is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Kraus lands a big elbow. BOOM! Kraus connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Manhoef is still in real trouble! Can Kraus finish him? Kraus working Manhoef over with strikes here. Kraus takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Kraus has control of Manhoef's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Manhoef regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Manhoef seems to have recovered his senses. Kraus raining down shots from the mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kraus looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Manhoef covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
