Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hugh G Rection (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex McTavish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McTavish looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
McTavish trying to control but Rection is working from the bottom.

McTavish is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Rection will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

McTavish is nestled in close to Rection, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McTavish lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.

McTavish seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

McTavish is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rection doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McTavish.

McTavish has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
McTavish takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McTavish closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McTavish lands in his opponent's guard.
McTavish wants to control from the top but Rection keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McTavish stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rection swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McTavish prevents Rection from getting back to his feet.

Rection is working an open guard so McTavish takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rection throws a right and a left that both miss.

McTavish shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Rection napping and manages to drive through into side control!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rection is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McTavish is controlling him well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McTavish thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Rection is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

McTavish shoots for a takedown but Rection saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Rection lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rection.
Rection connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

McTavish shoots in but no luck this time.

McTavish misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

McTavish dives in and grabs Rection's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rection pushes down on McTavish's head and hops out.

and Rection counters with a head kick. That will keep McTavish thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

McTavish shoots in for a double leg but Rection sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

McTavish changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rection tries to avoid it but McTavish manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rection to the ground. Rection escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rection slaps away a takedown attempt from McTavish, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Rection scores with a one two! McTavish had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
McTavish shoots in looking for a takedown but Rection manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McTavish's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Rection gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McTavish to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rection pushes McTavish off and scrambles back to his feet.

Rection leaves McTavish with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McTavish looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rection is fending him off so far but McTavish persists. Nope, Rection circles away and we're back to standing.
Rection lands a right hook to the body.

McTavish closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McTavish is looking to take a break and control but Rection is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


That kick from Rection tenderised McTavish's leg. McTavish is trying to keep his angry face on.
McTavish chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rection can pounce on him.
McTavish steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Rection. That one must have hurt.
McTavish looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

McTavish shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than McTavish was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Rection wants to try and get back to his feet.

Rection is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

McTavish lands with some strikes.

McTavish is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Rection to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Rection shrugs it off.
McTavish is landing with some decent strikes but Rection is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
BOOM! McTavish connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Rection's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
