The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pickett defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Floyd.
Floyd shoots in for a takedown but Pickett shows good takedown defense.
Pickett throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.

Pickett drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pickett decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Floyd, up you get!
Floyd shoots and misses

and Pickett counters with a takedown into side control.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetrius Floyd. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pickett slows the pace down.
Pickett tries to advance to mount but Floyd denies him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pickett misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Floyd bucks up and tries to throw Pickett off but instead Pickett has got his back!

Pickett is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Floyd has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Pickett has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Floyd taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Pickett doesn't care though - he's delighted!
