PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brock Lesnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Domingo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Domingo is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Built for Sin. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Domingo tries to clinch up.
Domingo looks for a takedown but Lesnar sprawls well.

Domingo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Domingo tries to clinch there but Lesnar circles away.
Domingo throws a leg kick that misses.
Lesnar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Domingo.
Brock Lesnar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Domingo.
Domingo misses with a takedown attempt - Lesnar sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Domingo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lesnar sprawls well. Lesnar wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Domingo gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lesnar takes a swing at Domingo's ribcage but misses.

Lesnar could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Lesnar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Domingo did well to prevent Lesnar getting side control.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Lesnar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Domingo to his feet.

Lesnar misses with a wild body shot.

Lesnar closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Domingo quickly recovers to half guard.
Well, if Lesnar is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Lesnar not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Lesnar is taking a breather. Domingo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Lesnar prevents Domingo from improving his position.
Domingo is breathing heavily.

Brock Lesnar has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Domingo scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

and Lesnar counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Domingo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Lesnar missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Lesnar scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Domingo trying to control the position.
Lesnar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Domingo is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A head kick misses from Domingo.
Lesnar misses with a head kick.
Lesnar tries to clinch but Domingo is having none of it.

Lesnar tries to score a body lock takedown but Domingo shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Lesnar tries to circle away but Domingo has him pinned against the cage.

Domingo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Domingo tries to clinch up.
Domingo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lesnar.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Lesnar shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Domingo is trying to defend but Lesnar finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lesnar is taking a breather. Domingo says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Lesnar prevents Domingo from standing back up.
Domingo is trying to control but Lesnar manages to pass to mount!
Domingo is trying to escape the mount.

Lesnar stands up from mount. Strange move.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brock Lesnar dominated that second round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Domingo wants to stand back up but Lesnar manages to pass into side control.
Lesnar remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Domingo wants to control the position but that's not easy when your opponent is in side control! Lesnar seems to be going for some sort of submission here. Hard to say what - oh, it's a Brabo choke! He's got it! Domingo is tapping! Wow, great finish!
