Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Shelter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shelter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Boom! Shake The Room. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shelter is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Paul lands a nice shot to the body.
Paul connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Shelter avoids the body shot from Paul.
Shelter shoots in for a double leg but Paul sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Shelter avoids the body shot from Paul.
Shelter drives through with a takedown into guard. Shelter looking to pass the guard. Shelter trying to control the position from guard on top but Paul is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shelter trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Shelter wants to control from the top but Paul keeps moving. Paul pulls Shelter in close to his closed guard and prevents Shelter from doing any damage or advancing position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Shelter scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Paul tries to kick Shelter off but Shelter keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Paul on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Paul tries to get out of the position. Shelter not doing much here.
Shelter is trying to work for a kimura but Paul is defending well.

Shelter is thwarting Paul's attempts to control the position. Paul blocking the ground and pound attempt from Shelter. Paul wants to control but Shelter is keeping busy.
Shelter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Paul is defending against the submission attempts here by Shelter.

Donk. Paul catches Shelter right on the button with a cross. Shelter walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Paul scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Paul lands a body shot.

Shelter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Paul defending well as Shelter loads up on a big left hand. Paul takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. This has been an exciting period of action! Paul misses with the combination.

Anderson Shelter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Paul scores with a sloppy right hand. Shelter should have avoided that one. Paul looks to score with a jab to the body but Shelter is just out of range. Paul throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Shelter tries to clinch up but Paul circles away and keeps his distance. Shelter shoots for a double leg takedown but Paul sprawls well. He's pushed Shelter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Shelter avoids the body shot from Paul.
Anderson Shelter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Paul takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. Paul scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Paul pushing out the jab but it's not landing. A big right from Paul misses. Shelter takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Shelter cracks Paul with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Shelter throws a head kick but Paul moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Shelter displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Paul throws out the jab. Shelter wants to clinch up but Paul keeps it at a distance. Paul leaves Shelter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Paul is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shelter. Shelter misses with an uppercut. A looping hook to the body misses from Paul. Shelter does a little dance to reset his feet. A big right from Shelter misses. No joy there for Paul, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Shelter throws a left and a right that both miss
and Paul counters with a straight right hand. Paul misses with a straight right. Shelter tries for a takedown but Paul sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Shelter takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Shelter misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sloppy strikes from Paul. Those never looked like landing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Paul loads up on a big right hand but Shelter slips the punch. Shelter moves to clinch but Paul breaks away and Paul counters with a three punch combo that has Shelter backing up. Shelter nods at Paul to acknowledge the strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shelter does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Nice defenses there by Shelter. Shelter moves into range and clinches up with Paul. Shelter tries to pull guard but Paul holds him up against the cage and eventually Shelter drops back down to his feet.

Shelter pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Shelter throws a low kick but Paul moves out of range easily. Paul misses with a hook. Shelter ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Shelter shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Paul moves into range and connects with a jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Shelter shoots in and drives through. Paul sprawls well. John Paul is winning the standup battle so far. Shelter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Paul sprawls well. Paul wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Shelter gets slowly back to his feet. Shelter is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted. Paul fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shelter looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Paul waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Shelter. Shelter throws a head kick that misses. Paul lunges at Shelter with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Shelter's hand. Paul dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul scores with a jab. Shelter acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Shelter moves to clinch but Paul breaks away enabling Paul to counter with a crisp jab.
