Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mikhail Kalashnikov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Martin Epson! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A swing and a miss from Kalashnikov. Kalashnikov throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Kalashnikov missing with a left hand there. Epson was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Kalashnikov swinging wildly here.
Kalashnikov gets tackled into the cage by Epson. Epson maintains the clinch. Epson pulls guard successfully.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Epson is on top in guard.
Epson controlling from the top position. Kalashnikov is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Epson defends well. Epson stands and steps away. Kalashnikov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Kalashnikov misses with a wild combination.
Epson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Epson avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kalashnikov throws a right and a left that Epson avoids nicely. Epson slips a jab from Kalashnikov. Nice takedown defense from Kalashnikov. No joy for Epson on that attempt. Kalashnikov defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Epson. Kalashnikov gets tackled into the cage by Epson. Epson maintains the clinch. Kalashnikov is trying to push Epson away but Epson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Epson fails to pull guard.

Epson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kalashnikov circles away. Kalashnikov lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Epson circles away quickly and effectively. Epson uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kalashnikov. Epson closes the distance and clinches.

Epson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Epson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Kalashnikov misses the shot to the body. Kalashnikov misses with a series of wild punches.
Epson moves into range and connects with a jab. Epson looks for a takedown but Kalashnikov sprawls well. Epson avoids the body shot from Kalashnikov.

Epson throws a head kick that misses. Kalashnikov lands with an uppercut that bounces Epson off the cage and back into rage. Epson feints a jab promting Kalashnikov to slip. Epson then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Kalashnikov slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. A combination from Kalashnikov does no damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kalashnikov avoids a punch combination nicely.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kalashnikov. Epson does a little dance to reset his feet. Epson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Epson slips a jab and a cross from Kalashnikov.
Epson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kalashnikov as he jumps to the side. Epson looks gassed! Kalashnikov swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Epson lands a jab-cross combination. Epson pushes Kalashnikov up against the cage in a clinch. Kalashnikov is looking to break free of the clinch but Epson has double underhooks. Kalashnikov tries to work over Epson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Epson has hold of one of Kalashnikov's legs. Kalashnikov is fighting the takedown attempt but Epson gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Kalashnikov is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Kalashnikov looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Epson has picked Kalashnikov up and slammed him! Kalashnikov can't keep hold of the triangle and Epson manages to pass to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Epson takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Epson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kalashnikov.

Epson scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kalashnikov is being controlled here. Let's hope that Epson has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kalashnikov is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Epson off and has taken his back! Kalashnikov misses with punches from the back. Epson is breathing heavily. Kalashnikov working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Epson prevents Kalashnikov from getting a body triangle.

Epson breaks Kalashnikov's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Epson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Epson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Epson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Epson postures up.
Kalashnikov has his foot on Epson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Epson works his way back into a safe position though. Epson stays in close to Kalashnikov's body and controls the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Epson decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Epson gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Kalashnikov. Kalashnikov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
so Epson counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Epson is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Epson is looking to work some ground and pound but Kalashnikov has wrist control. Epson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kalashnikov, up you get! Epson is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kalashnikov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Nice uppercut lands for Kalashnikov. That snapped Epson's head back.

Kalashnikov rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Epson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Epson gets a takedown into half guard. Kalashnikov looking for subs from the bottom but Epson mounts him! Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Epson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Epson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Epson connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Epson is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kalashnikov gets full guard. Kalashnikov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Epson controls the pace. Kalashnikov escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Epson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Epson controlling from the top position.
And that's the end of the fight! Martin Epson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Epson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
