Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, marco ruas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gota Yo!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
ruas throws a hook to the side of Yo's head but Yo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
ruas wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Yo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Yo is looking to clinch.
Yo fails in his attempt to clinch.
ruas lands a nice looking body shot.
Yo attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
ruas lands a jab to the head.
Yo tries to close the distance and clinch up but ruas swats him away and circles back towards the center.
A big left from Yo misses.
Yo misses with a hook.
ruas connects with the punch.
Yo walks into a stiff left hand from ruas.
Yo is rocked!
Yo gets a clinch.
Yo prevents ruas from breaking the clinch.
Yo misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from ruas.
ruas managing to block the knees to the body from Yo.
ruas blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Yo is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Yo unloads a knee to the mid-section. ruas lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Yo lands a knee to the head.

ruas tries to break free but Yo pushes him back against the cage.
Yo trying to land knees to the body.
Yo looks gassed!
ruas is trying to stall.
Yo prevents ruas from breaking the clinch.
ruas has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Yo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
ruas goes for a takedown attempt but Yo pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Yo tries to clinch there but ruas circles away.
ruas connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Yo is still on wobbly legs! Can ruas finish him?
Yo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
ruas lands a brutal uppercut that launches Yo off his feet! Yo tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). marco ruas!
