Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matt Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Leandro Rodrigues and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martinez wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A lull in the action here as Jackson stalls from top position.

Jackson content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Jackson lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Martinez down.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Jackson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Martinez gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Jackson thows a huge punch but Martinez dodges it nicely.

Martinez has hold of Jackson's hands but Jackson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Martinez is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Martinez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jackson circles away.
Martinez scores with a leg kick.

Jackson feints and as Martinez raises his hands in defense, Jackson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jackson won't allow Martinez to get back to his feet.
Martinez is breathing heavily.

Martinez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jackson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Martinez wants to get back to his feet but Jackson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jackson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Jackson postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Jackson cracks Martinez with a solid left hand.
Martinez has momentary wrist control but Jackson slips an elbow through the middle.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Jackson gets a takedown into half guard.
Jackson is taking a breather. Martinez says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jackson trying to control from Martinez's half guard. Martinez has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Jackson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Martinez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackson is one step ahead there.
Martinez keeping moving, preventing Jackson from controlling successfully.

Martinez is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jackson's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Jackson is pressing down on Martinez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Martinez is holding on for now.
Jackson thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matt Jackson dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


A head kick lands from Martinez that sends Jackson to the canvas. Jackson tries to scramble back to his feet but Martinez brings him back down into side control.


Jackson is rocked!
Jackson tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jackson is still in real trouble! Can Martinez finish him?
You can see the frustration on Jackson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Martinez stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Martinez shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Martinez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Matt Jackson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Martinez drops Jackson with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Jackson! Martinez dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (strikes). Fernando Martinez!
