Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, George Robinson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rickardo Lando! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Alexandre Firmino and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lando fails with the takedown and Robinson counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Robinson. Robinson wants to pass the guard but Lando is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lando can't keep his opponent in guard - Robinson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Robinson is working for a kimura but Lando is defending it quite comfortably.
Robinson is looking for a kimura but Lando is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Robinson to get the leverage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Robinson is trying to work for a kimura but Lando is defending well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Robinson is looking for a kimura but Lando is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Robinson to get the leverage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Robinson dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Robinson shoots in and bounces Lando off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Lando keeping full guard, as Robinson tries to pass.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lando is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lando is working an open guard so Robinson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Lando shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Robinson counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lando! We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lando can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Robinson moves to back control. Robinson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Lando knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Lando for a finish.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Robinson is looking for the choke from the back position but Lando is controlling his hands well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Robinson dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Robinson misses with a takedown and Lando counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Robinson is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Lando wants to control from the top but Robinson keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robinson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lando defends it easily. Robinson is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lando is looking to advance position but Robinson has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lando is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Robinson locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Lando is forced to tap!
