The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cardwel looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
A swing and a miss from lion.
Horrible takedown by lion or perhaps it was just good defense by Cardwel which made him look bad.
lion shoots in for a takedown but Cardwel shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Cardwel bucks lion off and manages to get back to his feet!
lion closes the distance and clinches up with Cardwel, looking for a takedown. lion pushes Cardwel against the cage but Cardwel circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cardwel moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

lion tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Cardwel manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

The ground and pound from lion seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Cardwel throws a series of punches but lion moves out of range.
Cardwel misses with a two punch combination.
lion misses with a takedown attempt - Cardwel sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
No luck with that takedown attempt from lion.

lion keeps control of Cardwel as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
lion fails to pull the fight into his guard.

lion tries to pull guard but Cardwel won't allow it.
lion jumps guard but Cardwel stands there with lion around his waist. lion gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

lion is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Cardwel wants to get back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

lion shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Cardwel pinned against the cage. Cardwel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Cardwel wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Cardwel wants to get back to striking at distance but lion won't allow it.

lion has Cardwel pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. lion pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Cardwel tumbling to the mat - lion dives into Cardwel's guard.
lion tries to free his leg and advance position but Cardwel is retaining full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
