Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georges StPierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ethan McBride (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McBride has chosen For Whom the Bell Tolls as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges StPierre! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ethan McBride! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Elvis Blanc and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McBride looks to land a combination but StPierre avoids it well. StPierre keeps the fight on the outside. McBride closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. StPierre is looking for a sweep. McBride is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. StPierre is positioning himself well to prevent McBride advancing to mount. McBride tries to stand but can't do so whilst StPierre controls his leg. StPierre makes his way to full guard. A much better position for StPierre. StPierre has control of McBride's left arm, preventing McBride from doing any damage. McBride looking to pass the guard. McBride wants to stand but StPierre has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. StPierre looking to sweep here. No luck so far. StPierre is working hard here to advance position. McBride is fighting to break StPierre's control of his arms but StPierre is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Georges StPierre. Some wild striking there from McBride.
Ethan McBride seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. StPierre feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McBride's calf. McBride looks gassed! StPierre drives through and clinches with McBride against the cage.

That's better than StPierre was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! StPierre cracks McBride with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

McBride can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down McBride for as long as he can get away with. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, StPierre cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
McBride wants to hold on but StPierre pushes him away. StPierre with a couple of short strikes. StPierre is in the full mount, landing strikes. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. StPierre lands a nice shot to the head. This has been an exciting period of action! StPierre lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

It looks like Ethan McBride has been cut. StPierre moves into the clinch. StPierre has McBride pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. StPierre pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McBride tumbling to the mat - StPierre dives into McBride's guard. StPierre is stalling in the full guard. StPierre lands a couple of decent looking shots. StPierre passes easily into side control. Nice work. StPierre has knee on belly and moves into mount. McBride is breathing heavily. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. StPierre is going oldschool here, as he tries to force McBride to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so McBride shrugs it off.
That's one minute gone in the round. StPierre wants to finish this one by submission but McBride is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from StPierre. McBride is looking to get to half guard. The referee warns McBride that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

McBride really doesn't want to stay on the ground with StPierre. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. StPierre has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of McBride's face.
