Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jorge Dennis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony DeSouza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Jorge Dennis has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jorge Dennis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Tony DeSouza!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DeSouza fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dennis sprawls well initially but DeSouza persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Dennis tries to get to full guard but DeSouza has control of the leg.

DeSouza seems to be looking for submissions.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Dennis is looking for a sweep. DeSouza is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dennis trying to control here.
Dennis regains full guard. Nicely done.
DeSouza wants to pass the guard but Dennis is keeping the position.
DeSouza pushing down on Dennis's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Dennis is looking to improve his position.
Dennis is staying active underneath DeSouza, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Dennis is trying to maintain the position but DeSouza is very close to passing his half guard.
Dennis is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because DeSouza is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
DeSouza perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
DeSouza tries to pass the half guard into mount. Dennis knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Dennis shoots and misses

and DeSouza counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
DeSouza tries to free his leg and advance position but Dennis is retaining full guard.
Dennis is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
DeSouza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dennis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

DeSouza stopping the sweep attempt from Dennis.
DeSouza wants to control from the top but Dennis keeps moving.
DeSouza looks gassed!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Tony DeSouza.

Dennis shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. DeSouza is trying to defend but Dennis finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
DeSouza is refusing to be controlled, as Dennis sits in half guard.
Dennis controlling the pace.

Dennis scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Dennis thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
DeSouza trying to hold on to Dennis's head to control him but Dennis postures up.
DeSouza tries to roll over but Dennis keeps him under control.

Dennis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Dennis is working for a kimura but DeSouza is defending it quite comfortably.
DeSouza keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Dennis looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
DeSouza is not content to let Dennis control the position.
DeSouza is in trouble now - Dennis has advanced to mount!
DeSouza tries to hold on but Dennis pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tony DeSouza will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


DeSouza shoots and misses
and Dennis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Dennis gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and DeSouza counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Dennis is controlling DeSouza's posture.
DeSouza wants to control from the top but Dennis keeps moving.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dennis is trying to keep DeSouza in close.
DeSouza tries to free his leg and advance position but Dennis is retaining full guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dennis is on top in guard.
Tony DeSouza has got the better of the ground game so far.
DeSouza is breathing heavily.
DeSouza working a defensive guard here.

Dennis pushing down on DeSouza's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Dennis is keen to just control but DeSouza is a slippery customer.

Dennis is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Dennis wants to control but DeSouza is keeping him busy.

Dennis is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dennis landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Dennis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dennis looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Dennis performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Dennis works his foot free and advances to mount.
Dennis looking to control but DeSouza is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Dennis is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. DeSouza can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Dennis avoids the attempt from DeSouza to control.

Dennis is working for a guillotine from mount but DeSouza frees his head quite easily.
DeSouza is wriggling around trying to escape.
Dennis trying to control but DeSouza is having none of it.
Dennis connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Dennis looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Dennis takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

DeSouza is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Dennis locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! DeSouza is forced to tap!
