Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arigato Sayonara!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman misses with a takedown
and Sayonara counters with a straight right hand.
Coleman tries a head kick but it misses.
Coleman shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Sayonara to counter with a crisp jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Sayonara. Coleman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sayonara fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Coleman misses with a takedown attempt
and Sayonara counters with a shoot takedown. Coleman fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johnny Coleman. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sayonara advances position into side control!
Sayonara passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Coleman!
Sayonara lands a big elbow.
It looks like Johnny Coleman has been cut.
Sayonara takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Poor strikes thrown by Sayonara there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
