And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Slinky McDougle!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDougle lands with a straight right. Day didn't see that one coming.
McDougle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

McDougle gets a takedown into half guard.
Nice strikes from McDougle there.
McDougle prevents Day from improving his position.
Day won't allow McDougle to pass to mount.

Day is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McDougle's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McDougle's back!
Day wants to control but McDougle manages to buck him off and is now in Day's guard! Nice work there by McDougle!
McDougle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
McDougle is looking to work some ground and pound but Day has wrist control.

Day controls McDougle momentarily but McDougle frees himself.

Day looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but McDougle puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Day has hold of McDougle's hands but McDougle slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Day looks like he's trying to stand up.
Day wants to get back to full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
McDougle lands with a punch from half guard.
Day is trying to maintain the position but McDougle is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Day wants to get back to full guard.
Day is concentrating on defense, preventing McDougle from advancing position.

Day throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Day ducks down and throws a hook to the body but McDougle moves away.
A looping hook to the body misses from Day. McDougle does a little dance to reset his feet.
McDougle avoids the head kick by Day.
Happy Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Day misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
McDougle throws a low kick but it's checked well by Day.
Day throws a sloppy head kick and McDougle moves out of range easily.

McDougle moves out of range of the strikes.

Day throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Day looks to throw the jab but McDougle is out of range.
A swing and a miss from Day.
Day lands with a straight right. McDougle didn't see that one coming.
McDougle tries for a takedown but Day sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Day waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract McDougle.
Day doesn't manage to clinch there - McDougle circles away.
A slow jab from Day misses its intended target.
Some bone on bone action there as McDougle checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Day pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
McDougle goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as McDougle checks a leg kick.

McDougle tries for a takedown but Day sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Day misses with a body shot.

McDougle drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Day throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
McDougle in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McDougle trying to control but Day is working from the bottom.
Day is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Day pulls McDougle in close to prevent any damage.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

A close second round but Slinky McDougle will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Day throws a head kick that misses.
McDougle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Day swivels and escapes.
No luck for McDougle with that takedown attempt.
McDougle gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day throws a lazy body kick
and McDougle counters with a nice body kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McDougle steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Day. That one must have hurt.
Day feints and then cracks McDougle's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McDougle down.
Day darts in trying to clinch

and McDougle counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Day works his way to full guard. Good work.
McDougle postures up.

Day pushes McDougle off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
McDougle staying out of range there.
Day wants to clinch but McDougle slips to the side
and McDougle counters with a leg kick.
Day thows a left - swing and a miss!
Day misses with a wild body shot.

Day keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Happy Day has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slinky McDougle.
Day connects with a good right hand that stumbles McDougle. McDougle circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
McDougle tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Day swivels and escapes.
Slinky McDougle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fight stays on the outside here - Day looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A low kick from McDougle misses
and Day counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Day throws a predictable looking body shot
and McDougle counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
McDougle shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Day defends it nicely.
Day throws a head kick that misses
and McDougle connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
McDougle is looking to land body kicks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close third round but Slinky McDougle just about did enough to take it.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Day throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Day thows a left - swing and a miss!
Day lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Day tries to clinch but McDougle moves out of range.
McDougle fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Day avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McDougle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Day was covering up waiting for the punch and McDougle finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Day is trying to keep McDougle in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Day looking to control but McDougle passes into half guard.
Day is looking to improve his position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McDougle is trying to control. Day wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Day is trying is best to control the position here.
Day slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McDougle slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Day is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but McDougle is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
The referee warns Day that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Day manages to regain half guard. Good work.

McDougle drops an elbow to the side of Day's head.
Day is looking for a sweep. McDougle is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Day is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McDougle tries to pass to full mount but Day defends it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!

Day moves in looking to clinch but McDougle pushes him off.
A solid body kick from Day.
Day throws a lazy head kick
and McDougle counters with a good low kick that Day was not able to check.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Day checks a leg kick.
Day misses with a jab to the body
and Day takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Day fails with an attempt to clinch.
Day jabbing away but nothing is landing.
A head kick by Day misses

and McDougle counters with a single leg into guard. Day didn't expect that.
McDougle stopping the sweep attempt from Day.
Day wants to stand up but McDougle is controlling him.

Day throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! McDougle escapes and throws Day's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Happy Day has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Day is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Day manages to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Day trying to control but McDougle postures up.
McDougle trying to control the action but Day is working from the bottom.
Slinky McDougle has got the better of the ground game so far.
Day is trying to control but McDougle passes into side control!
Day taking punishment in the form of punches.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Day throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
McDougle tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Day manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

And that's the end of the fight!
Slinky McDougle comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got McDougle winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
