Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rolando Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kai Gi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rolando Alves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kai Gi!
The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves avoids a punch combination nicely.
Gi fails with an attempt to clinch.
Alves gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Gi throws a knee to the head but misses.
Alves breaks the clinch.
Alves blocks a head kick by Gi.
Gi darts in trying to clinch
and Alves counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Gi makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gi.
Gi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Alves controls the pace.
Gi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Alves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gi has a closed guard, preventing Alves from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves trying to control the position from guard on top but Gi is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alves is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gi has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Alves is looking to defend but Gi has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Alves! Gi pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Alves taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Kai Gi!
