Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, John Matrix! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Cheesy POOF! The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Matrix checks a low kick from POOF. POOF displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Matrix lands with a shot to the body. Cheesy POOF seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. POOF throws a front kick aimed at Matrix's knee but Matrix avoids it well. Matrix scores with a jab to the body. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. POOF bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Matrix moves into the clinch. Matrix lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. A short body shot lands from Matrix as the two fighters clinch.
POOF wants to break free but Matrix has control.
Matrix lands a body punch. Matrix lands on the inside with an uppercut. POOF is looking to break free of the clinch but Matrix has double underhooks. Matrix taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
POOF tries to break free but Matrix pushes him back against the cage. POOF letting Matrix take a breather here. Matrix lands a right hand. POOF wants to break free but Matrix has control.
Still in the clinch, Matrix scores with a nice short uppercut. Matrix lands an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matrix cracks POOF with a nice body shot. Matrix scores with a hook to the body. POOF looks gassed! Matrix lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt POOF or not. Matrix lands a shoulder strike. A short right from Matrix. Matrix has dropped down and is working for a takedown. POOF is trying to keep an underhook but Matrix manages to get the takedown into half guard. Matrix is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for POOF! Matrix sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! A nice elbow there by Matrix. Matrix sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Matrix misses with a head shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. POOF is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
POOF wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Matrix.
Matrix controlling the pace for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matrix is in the full mount, landing strikes. Matrix has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Matrix controlling from the full mount. POOF has left one of his arms exposed and Matrix doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. POOF screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
