Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Carlos Sanchez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quinton Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Jackson throws a big right hand that misses.
Sanchez lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Jackson!

Sanchez moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Jackson has worked his arm free - good work by Jackson!
Jackson is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Sanchez trying to control the position but Jackson is working away.

Sanchez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jackson keeps working.
Jackson is pushing Sanchez's head away, looking to escape. Sanchez manages to hold on to the position though.

Jackson looks gassed!

Sanchez tries for a kimura but Jackson is defending well.
Sanchez misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Sanchez prevents Jackson from escaping the position.

Sanchez decides to stand back up.

Sanchez forces Jackson back against the cage and clinches.
A head punch on the inside from Jackson fails to land.
Jackson is pressed up against the cage. Sanchez has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Jackson down to the mat. Jackson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sanchez.
Sanchez throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jackson's waist but Jackson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sanchez off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Sanchez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jackson throws a head kick that misses.

Jackson gets tackled into the cage by Sanchez. Sanchez maintains the clinch.

Sanchez gets control of Jackson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Sanchez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Jackson stands over his opponent and dives in with a flying punch! Sanchez throws up his legs and catches Jackson in a triangle! Oh this looks tight! Jackson tries to escape but he's forced to tap! Wow, fantastic work there by Sanchez! That came out of nowhere!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Carlos Sanchez!
