Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Owen Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Martin Walter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Owen Wood looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Owen Wood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Martin Walter!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wood's jab looks to have found its range, popping Walter under the eye.
Wood fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wood displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Walter.
Wood scores with a crisp jab that stopped Walter in his tracks.
Walter takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wood throws a nice looking combination but Walter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Walter shoots in but Wood avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Wood leaves Walter with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Walter closes the distance and clinches up with Wood, looking for a takedown. Walter pushes Wood against the cage but Wood circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Wood lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Wood throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Walter stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Walter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Wood swivels and escapes.
Wood throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Wood lands with a good body shot.

Walter shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Walter has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That was a close round but I would say that Owen Wood will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Wood fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Walter manages to avoid it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Walter shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wood defends it nicely.

Walter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Wood circles away.

Walter looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Wood is fending him off so far but Walter persists. Nope, Wood circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Walter dives in and grabs Wood's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wood pushes down on Walter's head and hops out.

Walter is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Wood's half guard.
Wood is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Walter scores with a couple of nice shots.
Wood tries to kick Walter off in order to stand up. Walter Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Walter is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Wood is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Wood is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Walter asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Martin Walter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Wood moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wood lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Walter shoots in but no luck this time.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Walter.
Walter needs to keep his hands up - Wood had a free shot at his head there.
Walter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Wood but Wood pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A jab lands there for Wood.
Walter shoots for a double leg takedown but Wood sprawls well. He's pushed Walter's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wood lands with a nice body punch.
Wood lands a right hook to the body.

Wood gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Walter wants to control from the top but Wood keeps moving.
Wood wants to get back to his feet but Walter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Walter is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Wood is trying to keep Walter in close.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Walter shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wood as he jumps to the side.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Walter changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wood looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Owen Wood.
I think Wood has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
