Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Killer Kill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Caonabo Cruz! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Igor Prikhodko and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cruz blocks a head kick by Kill.
Cruz misses the shot to the body. Cruz closes the distance and pushes Kill back into the cage. Kill wants to break the clinch but can't.
Cruz wants the takedown. Kill is fighting it off but Cruz persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kill's guard against the cage. Cruz slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kill will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cruz gets to his feet. Kill looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Cruz should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Cruz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Cruz controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Kill working a defensive guard here.
Kill wants to stand up but Cruz is controlling him. Cruz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Kill throws a head kick but Cruz moves out of range.

Cruz is looking to clinch. Kill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Kill gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cruz content to stall in guard here. Cruz lands a couple of digs.

Cruz lands a couple of digs. Kill is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Kill is breathing heavily. Cruz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Caonabo Cruz was stalling too much, according to the referee. Cruz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kill napping and manages to drive through into side control! We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Cruz has eaten all the pies! Cruz has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Cruz drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Cruz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Kill looking for a sweep. Not yet Kill, not yet. Cruz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Cruz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Cruz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Caonabo Cruz was stalling too much, according to the referee. Cruz closes the distance and clinches. Cruz jumps guard but Kill stands there with Cruz around his waist. Cruz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Cruz drives through with a takedown into guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Cruz keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kill's head. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Kill trying to control the position.

Cruz shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Cruz is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Cruz content to control rather than advance. Cruz shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Cruz is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet! A momentary lapse in concentration from Kill enables Cruz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Kill manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Cruz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kill, up you get! Cruz blocks a head kick by Kill.
Kill gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Cruz to score an easy takedown into full guard. Cruz controls the pace of the fight for a moment. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Cruz accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz won't allow Kill to get back to his feet. Cruz decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kill, up you get! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Cruz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Killer Kill seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Cruz avoids a kick to the body.
Killer Kill is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Cruz closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Cruz stalling. Cruz gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Both fighters circling a little - Kill finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Kill pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Kill tries to sprawl but Cruz drives through with a takedown into half guard. Kill is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cruz is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kill is just riding it out for now. Cruz eventually gives up the hold. Cruz perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kill looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cruz controlling the action here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Kill is looking to get back to full guard here but Cruz has managed to pass to side control instead. Cruz tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Caonabo Cruz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Cruz moves out of range of the body kick from Kill.

Caonabo Cruz has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Cruz shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kill's guard. Cruz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Let's hope that Cruz has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cruz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Kill has a closed guard, preventing Cruz from standing up.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Caonabo Cruz. Kill tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Cruz tries to score with a low kick but Kill moves his leg out of the way. Kill throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
It looks like Caonabo Cruz has been cut. Kill misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cruz closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kill did well to prevent Cruz getting side control. Cruz performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Cruz looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kill trying to control from the bottom.
Cruz lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Kill wants to get back to his feet.
