PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John J Rambo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Seffar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rambo's entrance music is American Badass. A fine choice. Seffar has chosen Duke Arrives as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, John J Rambo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Seffar!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seffar closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rambo circles away.
Rambo throws a hook but Seffar avoids it easily.

Seffar feints and as Rambo raises his hands in defense, Seffar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rambo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Seffar is controlling him.
Seffar distracts Rambo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Seffar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Seffar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rambo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rambo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Seffar trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Seffar throws and elbow that misses. Rambo uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Seffar's guard. Nice move by Rambo!
Seffar has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Rambo has passed into side control.

Seffar is trying to get back to half guard.
Seffar manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Seffar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rambo is working away from the top position though.
Rambo is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rambo stands up out of the half guard.
Seffar slips a straight right by Rambo.

Seffar shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rambo as he jumps to the side.
Seffar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Juan Seffar will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


A swing and a miss from Rambo.
A telegraphed right hand from Rambo misses the target.
Seffar shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Seffar drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Seffar is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rambo is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rambo has escaped and now he's on top!
Seffar looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Rambo has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Seffar is proving hard to escape from.

Seffar is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Seffar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Seffar is trying to control the position from the bottom.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rambo misses with a looping right.
Rambo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Seffar defending well as Rambo loads up on a big left hand.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rambo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
John J Rambo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Juan Seffar.
Seffar shoots in looking for a takedown but Rambo manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Seffar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rambo throws an overhand right that lands on Seffar's shoulder, as Seffar tries to avoid the shot.
Seffar avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Seffar looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

That was a close second round but I would say that John J Rambo will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Seffar wants to control but Rambo is keeping him busy.
Rambo on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rambo tries to get out of the position.

Seffar is looking for a kimura but Rambo is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Seffar to get the leverage.
Seffar stops Rambo from getting back to his feet.

Rambo makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Seffar shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Rambo sprawls well. Rambo wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Seffar gets slowly back to his feet.

Seffar uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Rambo.

The fighters circling - Rambo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Seffar keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Rambo.
Rambo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Seffar tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rambo sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Seffar somewhat.
Seffar bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rambo misses with a looping left.

And that's the end of the fight!
John J Rambo showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Rambo has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
