Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Emiliano Escobar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mikko Traje! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Traje closes the distance and pushes Escobar back into the cage. Traje looking for a takedown. Traje is pressed up against the cage. Escobar has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Traje down to the mat. Traje avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Escobar displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Traje. Traje shoots in for a double leg but Escobar sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Emiliano Escobar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mikko Traje. Escobar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Traje tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Escobar is in Traje's guard. Escobar with a nice head shot there. Escobar lands a couple of decent looking shots. Escobar won't allow Traje to get back to his feet. Escobar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Escobar cracks Traje with a solid left hand. Escobar throwing strikes but missing. Escobar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Escobar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Escobar wants to control from the top but Traje keeps moving. Traje is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round. Escobar trying to control but Traje is working from the bottom. Escobar is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Traje should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Escobar scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Escobar wants to control from the top but Traje keeps moving. Escobar lands a couple of elbows. Traje looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Traje looks gassed! Escobar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Traje is keeping the position for now. Traje really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Escobar. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Escobar thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Escobar working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Escobar trying to control but Traje is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Emiliano Escobar has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Escobar closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Escobar will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Escobar looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Escobar maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Traje could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Escobar has cracked it and Traje is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Escobar!
