PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Almightie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Vegas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ronnie Vegas was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bruce Almightie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ronnie Vegas!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vegas decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Vegas scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Vegas not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Vegas connects with a nice short shot to Almightie's temple.
Almightie moves into full guard.
Vegas must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Almightie looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Almightie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Vegas can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Almightie has an active guard here but Vegas has managed to pass into half guard.

Vegas's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Vegas cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Vegas is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Bruce Almightie's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Almightie is looking to improve his position but Vegas isn't that keen on the idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
A nice elbow there by Vegas.
Almightie is in all sorts of trouble here.
Almightie slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Almightie gets full guard.
Almightie seems to have got his legs back now.
Almightie tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Vegas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Almightie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Vegas cracks Almightie with a solid left hand.

Vegas chips away with some ground and pound.

Almightie has an active guard here but Vegas has managed to pass into half guard.
Vegas is looking to take a break and control but Almightie is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ground and pound from Vegas.
Vegas trying to control the action but Almightie is working from the bottom.
Vegas is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Almightie reverses the position - he's now on top in Vegas's guard.
Vegas has a closed guard, preventing Almightie from standing up.
Almightie trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Almightie has his takedown stuffed

and Vegas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Almightie's guard.
Vegas lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Vegas looking to pass the guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Vegas postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Almightie utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Almightie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vegas manages to get to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ronnie Vegas dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bruce Almightie's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Vegas circles away from the clinch attempt

and Vegas counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Almightie's guard now.
Vegas trying to control but Almightie is working from the bottom.
Almightie keeping full guard, as Vegas tries to pass.
Vegas won't allow Almightie to sweep him here.

Almightie is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Vegas stands and throws Almightie's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Almightie is not content to let Vegas control the position.
Almightie is trying to improve his position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Vegas tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Vegas has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Almightie is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Vegas's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Almightie wants to get back to full guard.
Almightie is looking to escape.

Vegas slips a nice elbow through Almightie's hands, connecting with Almightie's forehead.

Vegas tries to pass the half guard into mount. Almightie knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Vegas looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Almightie with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Vegas passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Almightie!
Vegas lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Vegas pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

Jeez, Bruce Almightie's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Bruce Almightie's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:23 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Ronnie Vegas!
