Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carlo Lucatelli! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 14 - 1, fighting out of New York, Brijwanth J! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lucatelli bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. J is trying to get back to his feet. Lucatelli is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, J has escaped the position, nice work there. J is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Lucatelli asserts his dominance and retains side control. Lucatelli goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, J has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Lucatelli but great work by J. Lucatelli is looking to reverse the position. Lucatelli sneaks back into half guard. Lucatelli desperately trying to maintain half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lucatelli flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
J blocks the strikes from Lucatelli.
Lucatelli is looking to improve his position.
Lucatelli is trying is best to control the position here. Lucatelli has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. J is working away from the top position though. Lucatelli manages to get to full guard.
J wants to stand but Lucatelli has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lucatelli looking to hit a scissor sweep but J is one step ahead there. J really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lucatelli. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. J looks gassed! Lucatelli is working hard here to advance position. Lucatelli pulls J in close to prevent any damage. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lucatelli shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Lucatelli quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Lucatelli but it's paid off an J is forced to tap! Nice work by Lucatelli.
