PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pete Boyle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Beast Rage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rage comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I'm a Beast kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Pete Boyle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Beast Rage!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Reed Andrews and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rage keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Rage lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Boyle at a distance.
Boyle throws an off balance right hand
and Rage counters with a leg kick.
Rage looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Rage closes the distance and clinches up with Boyle, looking for a takedown. Rage pushes Boyle against the cage but Boyle circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boyle swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Rage lands a body shot.
Boyle throws a looping overhand right but Rage ducks down to avoid it.
Rage moves out of range of the strikes.
Boyle pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Boyle throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rage throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rage moves out of range of the strikes.
Boyle takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Boyle fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Boyle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Both fighters circling a little - Rage finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Boyle is breathing heavily.
Rage lands with a nice body kick.
Rage lands a leg kick that knocks Boyle off balance momentarily.
Boyle takes a head kick and keeps coming.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rage tries a head kick but it misses.
Rage lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Both fighters circling a little - Rage finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Rage clinches.
Rage is leaning against Boyle and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Boyle misses with a punch on the inside.

Rage gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Boyle regains guard.
Rage trying to control the position from guard on top but Boyle is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rage working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Boyle's head.

Rage sitting in guard here, content to control.
Boyle wants to sweep but no luck.
Rage trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Rage must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Boyle keeping moving, preventing Rage from controlling successfully.
Rage is looking to work some ground and pound but Boyle has wrist control.
Rage loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Rage postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rage postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rage looking to pass the guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boyle is trying to control the position from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beast Rage dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rage moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Boyle keeps the fight on the outside.
Boyle misses with a hook
and Rage counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Boyle throws a left and a right that both miss
and Rage counters with a low kick, right behind Boyle 's knee.
Rage takes a swing at Boyle's ribcage but misses.

Boyle gets tackled into the cage by Rage. Rage maintains the clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Rage.
Boyle letting Rage take a breather here.
Boyle throws a head punch that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A nice right hand lands inside from Rage.

Rage gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Rage is keen to just control but Boyle is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rage thows a huge punch but Boyle dodges it nicely.
Ground and pound from Rage.
Rage throwing shots but Boyle is blocking nicely.
Rage wants to control but Boyle is keeping him busy.
Rage lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Rage is trying to control the action in half guard but Boyle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Rage seems to be working for a kimura but Boyle defends the submission attempt.
Rage thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Boyle is looking for a sweep. Rage is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rage looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Rage controlling the action here.
Rage is looking to take a break and control but Boyle is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Beast Rage wasn't active enough on the ground.
Rage ducks under a wild hook from Boyle.
Rage misses with a takedown attempt - Boyle sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Rage shoots for a double leg takedown but Boyle sprawls well. He's pushed Rage's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Rage throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Boyle has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Rage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boyle checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rage, right into the meat.
Rage tries to close the distance and clinch up but Boyle swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Boyle lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Boyle.
Boyle misses with a lunging right hand
and Rage makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Boyle really felt that one!
Boyle keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Pete Boyle has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Beast Rage.
Boyle on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Rage. Rage obviously looking to wear him down.
A head kick misses from Rage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Beast Rage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Rage counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rage.

The crowd are getting on Rage's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Rage lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Rage lands a body shot in the clinch.
Rage throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Boyle's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Boyle has a couple of punches blocked by Rage.
Rage slowing the pace effectively.
Boyle is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Boyle tries for a takedown but Rage manages to get underhooks.
A short body shot lands from Rage as the two fighters clinch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rage stalling.

Boyle is trying to drag Rage to the mat but Rage just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Rage lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
A short uppercut from Rage.
Rage lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Boyle or not.
Stalling in the clinch from Rage.
A right hook to the body lands for Rage.

Rage has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Boyle clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Rage punishes Boyle with strikes from the back mount.
The referee is taking a good look at Boyle as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Rage!
Rage lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Rage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Can Boyle hold on?! Rage is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Rage punishes Boyle with strikes from the back mount.
You can see the frustration on Boyle's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Rage throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Boyle!

Boyle tries to escape the position.
Rage is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Rage gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Rage gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Rage apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Rage.

Rage is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Boyle knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Boyle avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Rage.

Beast Rage has got the better of the ground game so far.
Rage wants to control but Boyle is keeping him busy.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Boyle manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Beast Rage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Rage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
