PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and killa joe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Douglas Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, killa joe!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
joe fails with the takedown.
joe misses with an uppercut. Brown saw that one coming.
Brown throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around joe's waist but joe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brown off to one side.
Brown misses with a takedown attempt - joe sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Brown avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

joe throws a head kick but Brown moves out of range.
Brown throws a series of punches but joe avoids them all with ease.

Brown feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Brown is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
joe controls Brown momentarily but Brown frees himself.

joe throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Brown escapes and throws joe's legs to the side, diving into side control!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if joe can do anything to dispel that myth.
Brown has knee on belly and moves into mount.
joe looks gassed!
Brown takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

joe wants to hold on but Brown pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Douglas Brown.
Brown closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like killa joe has been cut.

Brown shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Brown slows the pace down in half guard.
Brown passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for joe!
