Ravenal lands with a hook. Kairouz tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The fighters circling - Ravenal throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Ravenal cracks Kairouz with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Ravenal has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Kairouz to stand back up!

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Oh, that's a big right hand from Ravenal and Kairouz goes tumbling to the canvas! Ravenal follows him to the ground and looks to finish from half guard.
Oh Kairouz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Ravenal is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ravenal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Kairouz had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Ravenal is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Kairouz Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Ravenal's back instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kale Ravenal dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ravenal bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Kairouz's head backwards.
Kale Ravenal seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Ravenal misses with a straight left.
Ravenal throws a hook but Kairouz blocks it.
Kairouz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Ravenal tries to avoid it but Kairouz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Ravenal to the ground. Ravenal escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Ravenal looks to land a left hand but Kairouz moved out of range nicely.
Kairouz slips a jab and a cross from Ravenal.

Kairouz changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ravenal looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Ravenal tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Ravenal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kairouz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Kairouz jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Ravenal is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Ravenal and Kairouz has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ravenal is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Kairouz is controlling him well.

Kairouz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ravenal is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kairouz shoots for a double leg takedown but Ravenal sprawls well. He's pushed Kairouz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Kairouz has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Ravenal is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Kairouz yanks on the arm and Ravenal is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Kairouz.
