I think Petri might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Crimson Stallion. James Petri had a look across the ring there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petri shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Petri is working for a submission of some sort.

Petri is looking for a kimura but Sparrow is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Petri to get the leverage.
Petri will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sparrow wants to get back to his feet.
Sparrow tries to roll over but Petri keeps him under control.

Petri is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Sparrow doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Petri.

Sparrow is defending against the submission attempts here by Petri.

Petri is trying to work for a kimura but Sparrow is defending well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Sparrow has one foot on Petri's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Petri dodges the punch combination from Sparrow.

and Petri counters with a shoot takedown. Sparrow fights it but they end up in guard.

Petri is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sparrow is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sparrow has escaped and now he's on top!

Sparrow got a little sloppy there for a moment and Petri has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sparrow has managed to get both his arms back between Petri's legs - danger averted.
Petri is breathing heavily.

Sparrow postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Petri is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sparrow, into his guard.

Sparrow escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Petri gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Sparrow looking for a guillotine here but Petri defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Petri thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Petri won't allow Sparrow to get back to his feet.

Petri is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Petri drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Petri seems to have locked his on tight now - Sparrow screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Petri, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). James Petri!
