Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, JP Flaim! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Pinto! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pinto leaves Flaim with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Flaim shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Flaim misses with a head shot. Pinto uses the momentum to regain guard. Flaim avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Pinto wants to get back to his feet but Flaim is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Flaim might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Flaim in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flaim throws a big right hand that misses. Flaim stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pinto swivels though and keeps the full guard. Flaim has gone for a leg lock! Pinto slips out almost immediately though and dives into Flaim's guard. Pinto prevents Flaim from getting back to his feet. Pinto trying to control the position from guard on top but Flaim is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pinto is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Flaim has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Pinto not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pinto throwing strikes but missing. Flaim is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pinto looking to pass the guard. Flaim has his feet on Pinto's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pinto tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Flaim manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Flaim shoots in for a double leg but Pinto sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Flaim tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Pinto swivels and escapes. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JP Flaim. That's going to take a lot out of him. No luck for Flaim with that takedown attempt. Flaim swats away the attempt to clinch by Pinto.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Flaim shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pinto sprawls well. Pinto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Flaim gets slowly back to his feet. Pinto shoots in and bounces Flaim off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Jose Pinto will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Flaim with a poor takedown and Pinto counters with a single leg into guard. Flaim didn't expect that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Flaim is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pinto is controlling him. Pinto trying to control the position from guard on top but Flaim is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pinto stops Flaim from standing up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pinto wants to pass the guard but Flaim is keeping the position. Pinto prevents Flaim from getting back to his feet. Pinto thows a big elbow that misses. Pinto won't allow Flaim to get back to his feet. Pinto controlling from the top position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Pinto tries to close the distance and clinch up but Flaim swats him away and circles back towards the center.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Pinto shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Pinto pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Flaim is keeping the position for now. Pinto showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Flaim is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pinto is controlling him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pinto wants to control from the top but Flaim keeps moving. Flaim wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Pinto manages to pass to side control. Well, if Pinto is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Flaim is trying to escape back to his feet but Pinto uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Flaim throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Flaim with a lazy takedown attempt and Pinto counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pinto. Pinto controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jose Pinto showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Pinto tries to free his leg and advance position but Flaim is retaining full guard. Pinto prevents Flaim from getting back to his feet. Pinto controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Flaim pushes Pinto off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Flaim with a poor takedown and Pinto counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Flaim! Pinto throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Flaim is really trying hard to get back to his feet.
Pinto lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Flaim hang on? Pinto pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Flaim is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pinto looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
