PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johny Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brent Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by Al Kapone - I Ain't No Killa . We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brent Miller!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Some wild striking there from Johnson.
Miller circles away from the clinch attempt.

Miller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Miller wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
Miller content to stall in guard here.
Miller postures up in Johnson's guard and throws a big left but Johnson blocks it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Miller accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Miller stands up and waves to Johnson to follow him.
Sloppy strikes from Johnson. Those never looked like landing.

Johnson looks to land a combination. Miller sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Johnson tries to clinch but Miller is having none of it.
Johny Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Miller closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Johnson did well to prevent Miller getting side control.
Miller not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Miller is just content to waste time from the top position. Johnson takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miller is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Miller to get the leverage.

Miller is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Johnson sees it coming and defends easily.

Miller is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Miller is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Johnson is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Miller lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Miller trying to control but he's not successful this time.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Miller lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Johnson backs up against the cage.
Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Miller counters with a takedown into side control.
Johnson is pushing Miller's head away, looking to escape. Miller manages to hold on to the position though.
Miller cracks Johnson with a big elbow.
Johnson on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Miller creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Johnson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Miller tries to score with some ground and pound. Johnson controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Miller in side control, throwing shots but Johnson defends.
The strikes coming from Miller are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Miller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Johnson has escaped the position, nice work there.
Johnson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Miller trying to control the position but Johnson is working away.

Miller is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Johnson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Brent Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Miller shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Miller seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Johnson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Miller tries to pass the half guard into mount. Johnson knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Miller maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Johnson could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Miller has cracked it and Johnson is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Miller!
