Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Johanssen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shea Cuervo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cuervo has chosen How I Could Just Kill a Man - Rage Against the Machine as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cuervo throws a big shot that misses.

Cuervo looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Cuervo is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Johanssen has managed to free his arm - good work.

Cuervo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johanssen is just riding it out for now. Cuervo eventually gives up the hold.

Cuervo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Johanssen is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Cuervo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Cuervo's back!

Johanssen has his foot on Cuervo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Cuervo works his way back into a safe position though.

Cuervo drops back looking for a leg! Johanssen is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Johanssen manages to kick Cuervo off! Cuervo jumps back into Johanssen's guard.

Johanssen had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cuervo is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Johanssen Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cuervo's back instead.
