PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between rocky bullwinkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Covalent Minibar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Minibar has chosen Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Covalent Minibar will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Daniel Blasius and Saam Ante.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
bullwinkle shoots in looking for a takedown but Minibar manages to keep the fight standing, pushing bullwinkle's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
bullwinkle moves to clinch but Minibar breaks away

and Minibar counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
bullwinkle is trying to get back to full guard.
bullwinkle is pressing down on Minibar's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Minibar trying to control but bullwinkle is working from the bottom.

Minibar got a little sloppy there for a moment and bullwinkle has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Minibar has managed to get both his arms back between bullwinkle's legs - danger averted.
bullwinkle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Minibar stays in close to bullwinkle's body and controls the position.
bullwinkle looking to hit a scissor sweep but Minibar is one step ahead there.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

bullwinkle has his foot on Minibar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Minibar works his way back into a safe position though.

bullwinkle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Covalent Minibar has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Minibar has managed to clinch.
bullwinkle prevents Minibar from breaking the clinch.
Minibar is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
bullwinkle has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Minibar is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Minibar breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Minibar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by bullwinkle.

bullwinkle is breathing heavily.

A momentary lapse in concentration from bullwinkle enables Minibar to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. bullwinkle manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Minibar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Minibar lands a big head kick that sends bullwinkle tumbling to the mat! Minibar takes a step backwards and waves bullwinkle back to his feet - he wants the finish!

bullwinkle is rocked!
bullwinkle wants to stay close but Minibar steps back to make room for something. bullwinkle seems frozen to the spot and bam! huge swing of the leg from Minibar and bullwinkle drops like he has been shot! A huge head kick and it's all over!
