PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Joo Chan Bang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Hattori (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hattori has chosen Holy Diver as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Joo Chan Bang has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joo Chan Bang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alexander Hattori!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bang rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hattori moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A combination from Hattori does no damage.

Bang lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hattori backs up against the cage.
Hattori tries to clinch there but Bang circles away.
Bang throws a right and a left that both miss.
Bang scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Bang fails to land with a series of punches.
Bang lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Bang rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Hattori moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Hattori throws a leg kick that misses.
Bang throws a right hand that Hattori ducks under and follows up with a left that Hattori also avoids with ease.
Bang scores with a jab to the body.

Hattori decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hattori not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Bang looks like he's trying to stand up.

Hattori trying to control the action but Bang is working from the bottom.

Bang is refusing to be controlled, as Hattori sits in half guard.
Hattori throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Hattori stops Bang from getting back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bang trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Bang manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Bang moves out of range as Hattori strikes.

Hattori slips a jab and a cross from Bang.
Bang falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hattori counters with a thumping low kick.
Bang lands a nice hook to Hattori's body. Hattori takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Hattori fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bang, pushing him back against the cage.

Hattori is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Bang.
Hattori looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Bang moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

and Hattori counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Bang!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bang's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hattori throwing strikes here but Bang is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Bang is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hattori lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
You get the feeling that Bang really doesn't like being in this position too much.

That's time! Bang's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hattori closes the distance and pushes Bang back into the cage.

Joo Chan Bang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Hattori moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hattori is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bang sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

The fighters circle momentarily. Bang darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Bang throws a combination. Hattori tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Hattori is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Bang to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Bang shrugs it off.

Bang stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bang wants it to stay on the feet.
