Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jean Sebastien Blais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andrej Sharko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blais's entrance music is Metallica - One. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jean Sebastien Blais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Andrej Sharko!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sharko closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Blais manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sharko's best efforts.
Sharko not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Blais is looking for a sweep. Sharko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Sharko looks to land a strike but Blais avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Blais utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Blais is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sharko defends well.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sharko accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sharko is pushing down on Blais's leg trying to pass to half guard. Blais is fighting to maintain full guard but Sharko has managed to sneak the leg through.
Sharko wants to control but Blais is keeping him busy.

Sharko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Sharko wants to get up but he can't break Blais's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Sharko makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Sharko is looking to work some ground and pound but Blais has wrist control.
Blais has momentary wrist control but Sharko slips an elbow through the middle.
Sharko throws a strike but Blais rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Blais drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Sharko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Blais has Sharko in his guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sharko really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Blais. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sharko is looking for a triangle but Blais pushes his legs off easily.

Blais wants to control from the top but Sharko keeps moving.

Blais got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sharko has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Blais has managed to get both his arms back between Sharko's legs - danger averted.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jean Sebastien Blais has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sharko takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Blais takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Blais throws a right hand that Sharko ducks under and follows up with a left that Sharko also avoids with ease.
Blais throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Sharko takes a swing at Blais's ribcage but misses.
Sharko paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Blais drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
A slow jab from Sharko misses its intended target.
Blais walks into a stiff left hand from Sharko.
A lazy left from Sharko finds it's target.
Blais throws a right and a left that both miss.
Sharko tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Sharko scores with a jab to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrej Sharko dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Sharko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blais circles away quickly and effectively.
Sharko with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Blais to score with a decent uppercut.
Sharko shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Blais defends it nicely.
Sharko stalks Blais and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Blais's face. Blais staggers backwards, shaken.
Blais fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Sharko counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Andrej Sharko hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
The fighters circle momentarily. Sharko darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Blais blocks a jab.
Blais tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Blais takes a jab right on the kisser.
Sharko swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A nice inside leg kick there by Blais. That's going to slow Sharko down.
Blais takes one on the button.
Sharko's corner calls for a 1-2. Sharko obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Sharko lands a slapping body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sharko blocks a low kick nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Sharko stuns Blais with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Sharko might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Sharko throws a jab when Blais was well out of range.
Oh Blais is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Sharko misses with an uppercut. Blais saw that one coming.
Andrej Sharko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sharko feints a jab and as Blais dips his head, Sharko unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Blais right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Blais falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Sharko smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Andrej Sharko!
