Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Phillips (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alpha Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phillips comes into the arena with "Shoot to Thrill" by AC/DC blaring out of the sound system. Alpha Dog has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Bruce Phillips's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bruce Phillips!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alpha Dog!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Phillips tries to clinch up

and Dog counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Phillips's guard now.
Phillips looking for a sweep. Not yet Phillips, not yet.
Dog pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Phillips is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Phillips seems keen to control Dog's posture.
Dog looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Phillips tries to clinch up

and Dog counters with a shoot takedown. Phillips fights it but they end up in guard.
Dog in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Dog remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Phillips trying to get back to full guard but Dog takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Phillips tries to control Dog's body but Dog pushes him off. Phillips squirms to his side and now Dog has his back!

Phillips tries to escape but Dog has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dog slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Even with his hooks in, Dog manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Phillips rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Dog stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Phillips to get to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Dog decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Phillips is trying to stand.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Alpha Dog showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Dog is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Alpha Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dog has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
