Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cory Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derek Acevedo looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cory Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derek Acevedo! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Acevedo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Jones tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Acevedo is in Jones's guard. Acevedo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Jones controls Acevedo momentarily but Acevedo frees himself. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Acevedo prevents Jones from getting back to his feet. Acevedo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard. Acevedo passes into half guard. Acevedo controlling the pace. Jones is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Acevedo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Acevedo in particular looking to stall.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Derek Acevedo was stalling too much, according to the referee. Jones connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Acevedo momentarily.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Acevedo swivels and escapes. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Jones is breathing heavily. Jones checks a low kick from Acevedo. Jones throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Acevedo. Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Acevedo gets a takedown into half guard. Acevedo seems to be working for a kimura but Jones defends the submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Acevedo scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Acevedo tries to pass the half guard into mount. Jones knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Acevedo lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Acevedo stalling.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Acevedo thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Acevedo is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Acevedo passes the guard and advances to mount! Acevedo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Acevedo pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch. Acevedo has Jones pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Acevedo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Jones tumbling to the mat - Acevedo dives into Jones's guard. Jones is looking to stand up but Acevedo isn't so interested in that idea. Jones avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Acevedo decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Acevedo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard. Jones will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones keeping full guard, as Acevedo tries to pass. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Acevedo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Acevedo stands up and waves to Jones to follow him. Acevedo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Acevedo lands a nice short elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jones is looking to control Acevedo's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted? Jones is in trouble now - Acevedo has advanced to mount! Acevedo connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Acevedo breaks from Jones's wrist control and lands an elbow. BOOM! Acevedo connects with a massive shot to the dome!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones wants to hold on but Acevedo pushes him away. You get the feeling that Jones really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Acevedo working for a submission but Jones is keeping him at bay. Acevedo cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Acevedo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Derek Acevedo wasn't active enough on the ground. Acevedo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cory Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Acevedo closes the distance and clinches. Jones working hard to break the clinch. Acevedo gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Acevedo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Acevedo lands a decent punch to the body there. Jones has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Acevedo is proving hard to escape from. Jones missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Jones wants to stand but Acevedo has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Jones throws a strike but Acevedo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Acevedo sitting in guard here, content to control. Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Acevedo pushes down on Jones's leg and manages to get into half guard. Acevedo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Acevedo works his way into full mount! Acevedo in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jones wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

And that's the end of the fight! Derek Acevedo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Acevedo winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
