PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cho Gath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Will Jackman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cho Gath!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Will Jackman!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Felipe Paraventi and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackman with a lazy takedown attempt

and Gath counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jackman won't be happy with that.

Gath is trying to ground and pound but Jackman uses the momentary lack of control by Gath to regain half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackman can do anything to dispel that myth.

Gath thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jackman's head.

Jackman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gath doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gath manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gath doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gath manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Gath content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Gath's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Gath loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Jackman is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Gath is aware though and is defending well.
Gath won't allow Jackman to sweep him here.

Jackman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Cho Gath just wasn't active enough.

Jackman manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Gath on his heels. He'll look to pass Gath's guard now, I'm sure.
Jackman postures up in Gath's guard and throws a big left but Gath blocks it.
Jackman is working Gath over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Gath wants to stand and escape but Jackman is having none of it.
Gath is breathing heavily.
Jackman thows a big elbow that misses.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Will Jackman will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gath stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jackman swivels though and keeps the full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jackman is on top in guard.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jackman accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jackman uses his free foot to push down on Gath's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Gath.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Jackman connects with a bit shot that sees Gath covering up! More strikes from Jackman and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Jackman is our winner by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Will Jackman!
