Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kim Jong Thrill! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jimmy Dean! The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Vladimir Khabensky and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Thrill throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Dean. Dean throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Thrill. A momentary lapse in concentration from Dean enables Thrill to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Dean manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Dean escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Thrill gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Thrill postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Dean working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Thrill. Dean is looking for a triangle but Thrill pushes his legs off easily.
Thrill won't allow Dean to sweep him here. Thrill drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dean looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dean looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dean! Dean sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Thrill is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Thrill is trying to control Dean's posture but Dean avoids it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thrill is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Dean thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Thrill tries to get to full guard but Dean has control of the leg. Thrill has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Thrill looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Thrill is breathing heavily. Thrill makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Thrill. Dean wants to control from the top but Thrill keeps moving. Dean pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Thrill is keeping the position for now. Thrill preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kim Jong Thrill dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Dean lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin. Dean fails in his attempt to clinch. Thrill fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Dean checks it well. Dean has taken the fight to the clinch.
Dean has a couple of punches blocked by Thrill.
Thrill's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Dean is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thrill. Dean ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thrill moves away. Thrill avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Dean closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Thrill quickly recovers to half guard. Well, if Dean is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Dean works his way into side control. Dean thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thrill is trying to get back to half guard. Dean laying and praying for a moment but Thrill takes advantage and regains half guard. Thrill is trying to get back to full guard. Thrill looking for submissions off his back. Dean tries to pass the half guard into mount. Thrill knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dean throwing shots but Thrill is blocking nicely. Dean scoring with strikes to the body and head. Thrill is trying is best to control the position here. Dean seems to be working for a kimura but Thrill defends the submission attempt. Dean wants to take a breather but Thrill is having none of it. Thrill regains full guard. Nicely done. Dean trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Dean wants to control from the top but Thrill keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dean content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Dean preventing the sweep. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dean sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Thrill's guard. It looks like Dean is going to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Dean not landing any meaningful shots this time. Dean is trying to control. Thrill wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Dean thows a huge punch but Thrill dodges it nicely.
Dean is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Jimmy Dean showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Dean tries to close the distance and clinch up but Thrill swats him away and circles back towards the center. Thrill avoids the body shot from Dean.
Dean tries to bum rush Thrill with a series of wild strikes but Thrill uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Sloppy strikes from Thrill. Those never looked like landing. Dean fails with an attempt to clinch.
Dean fails with the takedown. Thrill misses with a takedown attempt and Dean decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Thrill's guard. Dean drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Thrill dives on top into guard. Dean keeping moving, preventing Thrill from controlling successfully. Dean lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Thrill! Thrill is working to get back to half guard.

Dean somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Jimmy Dean has got the better of the ground game so far. Thrill wants to escape the position.
Dean lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Dean thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. You can see the frustration on Thrill's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Dean patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Thrill preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Dean. Thrill is in a bad position with Dean working for a choke. Thrill manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment. Dean had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Thrill defends it easily. Dean manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Thrill manages to get himself to full guard.

Dean is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Thrill is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Thrill has escaped and now he's on top! Thrill throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Dean has his foot on Thrill's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thrill works his way back into a safe position though. Dean keeping moving, preventing Thrill from controlling successfully. Dean looking for a guillotine here but Thrill defends easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Jimmy Dean comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Dean has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
