Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pedro Arroyo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pedro Arroyo has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pedro Arroyo!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Gregory Folan and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Arroyo napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Miller tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Miller thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Miller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Miller is trying to get an arm triangle but Arroyo is defending well.
Arroyo regains half guard.

Miller is trying to work for a kimura but Arroyo is defending well.

Miller is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Miller is working for an americana but Arroyo has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Miller was thinking about the submission.
Arroyo seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Miller won't allow Arroyo to sweep him here.

Miller has gone for a leg lock! Arroyo slips out almost immediately though and dives into Miller's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller is breathing heavily.

Miller has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Arroyo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Arroyo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Arroyo is looking to stand up but Miller won't let him.

Arroyo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miller swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Pedro Arroyo was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Miller drops his hands momentarily and Arroyo takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Arroyo closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Arroyo is trying to control the action in half guard but Miller is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Miller throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Miller is in trouble now - Arroyo has advanced to mount!
Arroyo is landing with some decent strikes but Miller is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Arroyo shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Arroyo was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Arroyo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Arroyo really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Miller tries to lock up and control but Arroyo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Arroyo is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Miller to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Miller shrugs it off.
Arroyo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Arroyo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Miller manages to avoid the submission attempt.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Arroyo is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Miller will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Miller is looking to reverse the position.

The fight stays on the outside here - Arroyo looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Miller tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Arroyo just stands there and leans against the cage.

Miller is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Miller trying to hold on to Arroyo's head to control him but Arroyo postures up.
Miller is not content to let Arroyo control the position.
Miller wants to control but Arroyo is keeping busy.

Arroyo wants to stand up but Miller is controlling the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Miller tries to roll over but Arroyo keeps him under control.
Arroyo is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Miller is looking to improve his position but Arroyo isn't that keen on the idea.

Pedro Arroyo showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Arroyo looks to land a combination but Miller avoids it well.

and Miller counters with a single leg into guard. Arroyo didn't expect that.

Miller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Miller got a little sloppy there for a moment and Arroyo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Miller has managed to get both his arms back between Arroyo's legs - danger averted.

Miller postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Arroyo is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Miller, into his guard.

Miller is trying to control the position but Arroyo postures up.
Miller avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Miller is looking to stand up but Arroyo isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Miller looking for a sweep. Not yet Miller, not yet.

Arroyo wants to stand but Miller has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Miller wants to stand and escape but Arroyo is having none of it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Arroyo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Miller wants to sweep but no luck.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Arroyo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Miller manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Miller is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Arroyo defends well.

Miller is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

I would just about give that final round to Pedro Arroyo.
Well Arroyo has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
