Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Wiles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mattias Markstrom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Max Wiles! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mattias Markstrom! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Markstrom avoids a kick to the body.
Markstrom has managed to clinch.
Wiles gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.
It looks like Mattias Markstrom has been cut. Markstrom blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Markstrom is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Wiles pulls him back up using the underhooks. Wiles with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Wiles tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Wiles prevents the takedown attempt.
Wiles lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Markstrom or not. Wiles tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Wiles lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Markstrom backwards. Markstrom has Wiles pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Wiles manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Max Wiles has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mattias Markstrom. With the fighters up against the cage, Wiles throws an elbow but misses. Wiles dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. Wiles wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Markstrom is trying to drag Wiles to the mat but Wiles just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. A knee to the head by Markstrom.
Wiles lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Markstrom is working for takedown but Wiles is calmly controlling the position for now. Markstrom wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Wiles has clasped his hands together around Markstrom's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Wiles lands a decent elbow from side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wiles in side control, throwing shots but Markstrom defends. Markstrom sneaks back into half guard. Wiles stalling away here and it's allowed Markstrom to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Wiles won't allow Markstrom to sweep him here. Wiles working some strikes from top position. Markstrom looking for a sweep. Not yet Markstrom, not yet. Markstrom keeping moving, preventing Wiles from controlling successfully. Wiles tries to free his leg and advance position but Markstrom is retaining full guard. Markstrom uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Wiles takes a swing at Markstrom's ribcage but misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wiles attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Wiles closes this distance looking for a takedown but Markstrom circles away. Wiles throws a head kick that misses. Markstrom has his takedown stuffed and Wiles counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Markstrom gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Wiles counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Markstrom looks gassed! Wiles wants to lay and pray for a moment but Markstrom keeps working. Markstrom is looking to improve his position.
Wiles tries to pass to full mount but Markstrom defends it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wiles thows a huge punch but Markstrom dodges it nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wiles looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Markstrom is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Wiles's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Wiles's back! Wiles is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Markstrom.

Markstrom is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Wiles taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Markstrom.
