The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fickett shoots in for a takedown but Brookins shows good takedown defense.
Fickett uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Brookins.
Fickett lands a leg kick that knocks Brookins off balance momentarily.
Fickett avoids the body shot from Brookins.
Fickett takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Fickett swats away the attempt to clinch by Brookins.
Fickett staying out of range there.
Brookins moves into range and clinches up with Fickett.
Brookins is fighting off a takedown attempt but Fickett is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Brookins to the mat. Brookins regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Brookins keeping moving, preventing Fickett from controlling successfully.
Brookins is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Fickett decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Brookins, up you get!

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fickett.
Ryan Brookins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Brookins gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fickett won't allow Brookins to sweep him here.

Brookins is working an open guard so Fickett takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Brookins stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Brookins wants it to stay on the feet.
Fickett scores with a head kick. Brookins tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Fickett takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Fickett shoots for a takedown but Brookins saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Brookins comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Fickett drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Brookins tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Brookins dodges the ground and pound from Fickett.
You can see the frustration on Brookins's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Fickett misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Fickett thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Fickett throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Brookins tries to improve position but can't.
Fickett is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Brookins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Fickett misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fickett is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Brookins looks calm but he's in trouble here. Fickett gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Brookins is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Fickett lets go of the hold and Brookins can pop his arm back in it's socket.
